GST/HST Holiday Tax Relief

The Government of Canada proposed a GST/HST holiday tax break starting this December 14th till February 15th of next year. During this period, no GST/HST will be charged on specific items, so long as it meets the following criteria:

Between December 14, 2024 and February 15, 2025, items must be both paid in full and delivered or made available to the buyer. This applies to both retail and wholesale purchases.

What does this mean for consumers?

This tax break will be automatically applied to shoppers’ purchases.

What does this mean for business owners?

From December 14, 2024 to February 15, 2025, do not charge GST/HST qualifying goods and services.
